From the early 1980s onward, I’ve had the privilege to work with client organizations across five continents, touching virtually all sectors, as large as nearly a quarter million employees and as small as fewer than a dozen. Through all of the engagements (too many to count) I’ve come away with a clear point of view relating to the nature of place in support of the people who experience those places.

My intent with this site is to share thoughts and reference resources with the hope that you will engage and, together, help advance our shared understanding of the value of workspace and how to maximize the value of place in the service of the women and men who collaboratively pursue the mission of the organizations in which they participate. And, beyond workspace, I wonder how good space can help people be at their best, at home, school, work and play.

I engage in the world with the hopeful vision of creating the right conditions for flourishing, with the core belief that getting to the right question opens our imagination to what is possible. This begins with listening. Listening to each others’ stories enables us to feel heard and seen, which contributes to the creation of shared meaning - one of the conditions each of us seeks in communities that we are drawn to because that is when we feel belonging. As that sense of belonging strengthens, we all choose to show up and be present as our best selves. This is the beginning of flourishing, and flourishing is good.

All of the photography featured is my own - images of places and spaces I’ve found meaningful and memorable through my travels over the years.

This website will hopefully serve as a platform to share concepts among friends, colleagues and all who share an interest in the numerous aspects of what makes good space.
